Three Leicester Tigers players shared in England Under-20s' win over France on Friday evening to secure the Six Nations title. Will Owen and Charlie Beckett started the game in the England back row, while prop Owen Hills was used as a first-half replacement in the 24-11 victory at Brighton’s Amex Stadium.
A crowd of more than 12,600 cheered tries from Joe Marchant and George Perkins, with Rory Jennings kicking 14 points.
Head coach Jon Callard said: “I’m extremely proud of all of the players and the management. It was a challenging game but the players fronted up in the second half and ultimately deserved that win.
"It’s great to win and to lift the trophy, and it’s just reward for their efforts.
“We’re halfway through our season with the Junior World Cup coming up in June, and we’re looking forward to heading out to Italy to defend the trophy. We have a talented group of players and a huge amount of credit must go to the clubs and the academies who put a lot of work into their guys.”
Tigers development squad hooker Jake Farnworth and Academy centre Charlie Thacker have also played a part in England’s successful campaign in the Six Nations.
