'Euro disappointment will drive us on'

Jordan Crane hopes the disappointment of the 22-16 defeat to ASM Clermont Auvergne can act as a spur for Leicester Tigers when they return to Aviva Premiership action.

Tigers staged a brave fightback in their Heineken Cup quarter-final but were unable to become the first team to win at Stade Marcel Michelin in 75 games.

Now attention turns to Saturday’s Aviva Premiership clash with London Wasps as Tigers enter the last four games of the regular season aiming for a top four finish in the Aviva Premiership and a place in the semi-finals.

“We gave ourselves too much to do in the first half,” says Crane, who scored the Tigers try in Clermont. “The way that we came back in the second half was a huge credit to everybody.

“In the end we are very disappointed because we came so close and ran a quality team who are 75 games unbeaten at home very close.

“We are in the same situation that we were in last season when we went away to Toulon and gave it an awesome crack.

“We have to take that into the Aviva Premiership and if we can we will give it another good crack.”

Welcome Tigers back to Welford Road this Saturday when they face old rivals Wasps (kick-off 3pm). Match tickets are still available from the Welford Road ticket office, on 0844 856 1880 and online by clicking here
