Leicester Tigers Academy prop Neale Farthing will return from his first England Under-18 campaign with a European champion's medal.

England picked up the Justin Bridou Trophy after victory in the final game of the AER/FIRA Under-18 Championship in Grenoble, beating France 27-22 in front of a 15,000 crowd at the Stade de Alpes.

Farthing was included in the squad for all three games, scoring a try after starting the big win over Portugal, and being named among the replacements for the games against Scotland and hosts France as England lifted the trophy for a second successive year.

Tries from flanker Matt Bolwell, centre Nick Tompkins and prop Paul Hill secured the final victory, while fly-half Josh Sharp kicked 12 points.

Head coach John Fletcher said: “I’m delighted for all of the guys. I thought we played well for large periods and deserved to get the win. Full respect to France though, they had the crowd behind them and pushed us all the way.”
