Re-live the moment when Leicester Tigers became European Champions for the first time with a special 20th anniversary publication now available at the club shop.
A team led by Martin Johnson lifted the Heineken Cup trophy at the Parc des Princes in Paris on a famous day in May 2001 when a huge contingent of Tigers fans roared their support from the stands.
Now you can read the stories behind the headlines from players and staff, together with some vivid memories from the supporters – inside the stadium and further afield – in an 84-page publication created to celebrate the landmark.
Team captain Johnson, double tryscorer Leon Lloyd, Tim Stimpson, Ben Kay and coach John Wells are among the storytellers included alongside a ‘Matchday As Live’ account of the action and all the facts and stats behind the game.
The 20th Anniversary Souvenir is on sale now at the Tigers club store at the stadium, price £5.
A European Champions Anniversary Evening at Mattioli Woods Welford Road in the company of the heroes of that afternoon has been re-arranged for a new date of Wednesday, September 29, following the delay in easing of lockdown restrictions.
The event is organised by The Sporting Club and hosted in partnership with Switch the Play Foundation, a charity co-founded by the game’s try-scoring hero Leon Lloyd and the UK's only charity dedicated to supporting all sportspeople to successfully transition into life outside of sport.
