Leicester Tigers welcomed hundreds of young players and their families to the first Tigers Challenge event of the season.Teams of young players from across the country took part in the tournament at Butlin’s Bognor Regis in age groups from under-sevens up to under-12s.
Edenbridge RFC had the most success at Tigers Challenge with the under-8s, 10s and 11s winning in their age groups.
Worthing RFC won the under-7s, Aylesford Bulls ‘A’ topped the under-9s and Bedford Junior Bulls RFC won the under-12s age group.
Teams from across the UK took part in the festival, travelling from as far away as Ipswich in Suffolk, Mumbles in South Wales and Lisburn in Northern Ireland.
The teams were accommodated at Butlin’s Bognor Regis and had full use of the holiday resort’s facilities, with the rugby festival games taking place throughout Saturday and Sunday.
Former Tigers and England forward Louis Deacon attended the prize-giving.
Run in partnership with ESF Events, the Tigers Challenge will also take place at Butlin’s Minehead on the weekend of April 24-27 and May 1-4.
More than 10,000 players and their families will be involved in the three festivals, and they will be joined by a guest Tigers player for the end-of-tournament prize-giving.
