Newcastle Falcons and Leeds Carnegie have announced their squads for Friday's JP Morgan Asset Management Premiership Rugby 7s at Welford Road.

The Falcons squad includes Sevens internationals Charlie Amesbury (England) and Peter Jericevich (Scotland), plus Scotland Under-20s cap Michael Tait and Holland international Sep Visser.

Coach Mark Laycock said: “We’ve got a good mix in this squad, and there's a lot of excitement being generated by the introduction of the new Premiership Rugby Sevens. Having Charlie Amesbury in our squad gives us a real strike threat, but there is a mixture of Sevens experience and raw talent in this group. It should be a good night for the fans with plenty of open running rugby and a load of tries."

Leeds Carnegie Academy manager Mark Luffman, meanwhile, believes the Welford Road factor can be a big influence on the Yorkshiremen.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for the lads,” he said.

“As a club we are proud of our record of giving young players the opportunity to perform on the biggest stages and that often brings the best out of them. Playing at Welford Road on a Friday night will be special and something to savour for these guys.”

Sale Sharks and Leicester Tigers will announce their squads for the JP Morgan Asset Management Premiership Sevens by noon on Thursday.
