Charlie Clare thanked the fans for their part in helping Leicester Tigers to victory on Saturday and said the players will be excited to see supporters back at Mattioli Woods Welford Road next weekend.
Tigers collected a 10th league win of the season with an 18-17 triumph at Worcester Warriors and after acknowledging the traveling support in the club’s first Gallagher Premiership game played in front of a crowd for than a year, hooker Clare said: “It was great to see the fans, it means so much after so long.
“It is fantastic to have them back and we want to thank the fans for getting out and getting us over the line today.
“Everyone is excited to get back to Mattioli Woods Welford Road with the fans next week.”
Victory was hard-earned as Tigers were eight points down at half-time, but the result was welcome after a one-point defeat in a European Final at Twickenham a week earlier.
“I think this was one of the most challenging weeks of the season so far after the emotion of last week’s game and coming so close to winning,” Clare added.
“We had to make sure we still went out to perform and to come away with the win is very pleasing.
“We pulled our socks up and just went to work, then we came here and managed to get the result against a really good Worcester side – they have been unlucky through the season in getting on the wrong end of results and today is another one.
“To win is pleasing but what stands out for me is how we won a game but still have disappointed bodies in the changing room because of the performances we want to achieve and we didn’t get some things right today.
“Now we’ll be back in on Monday and start to focus on the build-up to Bristol next weekend.”
