Leicester Tigers' first home game of the new Guinness Premiership season, which will herald the opening of the new Caterpillar Stand, will be screened live on Sky Sports.

Guinness Premiership champions Tigers will play their first Welford Road game of the new campaign against Newcastle Falcons on Saturday, September 19 (5.35pm kick-off).

Sky Sports will also show Tigers’ Guinness Premiership trip to Bath Rugby on Saturday, September 26 (6.05pm kick-off) and the home game against East Midlands neighbours Northampton Saints on Saturday, October 31 (5.35pm kick-off).

So far, 11 Guinness Premiership matches, including the first ever club game at Wembley Stadium between Saracens and Northampton Saints on Saturday, September 6, have been scheduled for Sky Sports live coverage in the first 10 rounds.

Announcing the fixtures, Martin Turner, executive producer for rugby union at Sky Sports, said: “The Guinness Premiership last year boasted more tries and points than ever before, so we should be in for another exciting season. The rugby will be closer, faster and better - and I'm sure the attendance record will be smashed as the teams travel to new stadia and improve their own facilities.”

Premier Rugby's commercial director Jon Varney added: “In just the first three Rounds Sky's coverage of the race to Twickenham will show European Challenge Cup Winners Northampton Saints open their Guinness Premiership campaign against Worcester Warriors and the South West derby between Gloucester and Bath, with their matches normally among the best of the past few seasons.

“They will then show Saracens' big match at Wembley Stadium, the first club match at the home of English football, followed by the opening of Leicester Tigers' new stand at Welford Road, which will take their capacity to 24,000.

“It's a great start to another season of award winning rugby coverage on Sky Sports.”
