Flood starts in England opener

Toby Flood has been called into England's starting XV for the opening match of the RBS 6 Nations after injury to Riki Flutey.

England centre Flutey picked up a knock to his right thigh in the course of training on Thursday and, following assessment by the England medical staff this morning, it has been decided that he would not recover sufficiently to take part against Wales at Twickenham tomorrow.

Flood will win his 27th cap, joining Leicester team-mate Lewis Moody in the starting XV, with colleagues Dan Cole and Louis Deacon among the replacements.

Shontayne Hape of Bath added to the replacements following Flood's elevation.
