Ford says Tigers still have work to do

George Ford says Leicester Tigers still have areas to “tidy up” before the return to Gallagher Premiership action next month.

The fly-half captained the team to victory over the Scarlets in the second round of the Heineken Champions Cup on Friday evening before joining up with the England squad preparing for the autumn internationals and admitted there is still work to do in preparation for the league fixtures against Gloucester, Saracens and Bristol during the next block of fixtures.

Describing the team’s performance in the 45-27 victory over the Scarlets as probably the best of the season so far, Ford said: “We needed that. Scarlets are always tough opposition with the brand of rugby they play and what they have done over the past couple of years so to get a big win at home in Europe is just what we needed.

“There’s still a few areas we need to tidy up. We let a couple of tries in and we had to work very hard for ours where they seemed to get theirs quite easily, so we’ll have to have a look at that.”
