Free entry for French test this Sunday

There's a double-header of rugby action at Welford Road this weekend as Tigers Academy welcome France U-19s on Sunday, with the first-team squad taking on Gloucester the previous afternoon.

Having played against both England and Wales last season, the academy test themselves against France in front of what they hope will be another bumper Welford Road crowd.

The match kicks-off at 12.30pm and will be part of France’s preparation for the U-19 Six Nations in spring 2008 and the U-19 World Championships taking place later that summer. For Tigers’ aspiring youngsters, it is another opportunity to measure themselves against the best players in Europe.

Entry to the match is free for all.

“Games like this don’t come around very often, so it’s definitely something that everyone involved with the academy is looking forward to,” says Tigers player development manager Carl Douglas.

“We’re hoping for a big turnout at Welford Road as your support will make a massive difference to the development of our young players. Many of the lads won’t be used to playing in front of large crowds, but it’s obviously something they need to adapt to as quickly as possible if they want to make it to the top of the game.”
