Get Busy Living given a helping hand

Leicester Tigers players and staff have been doing their bit to assist with the building work at the Matt Hampson Foundation’s Get Busy Living Centre.

The centre, at Burrough on the Hill, will provide care and support for beneficiaries seriously injured through sport and a focal point for the Foundation.

The Tigers community team, armed with paintbrushes, offered their assistance this week, while development members Tommy Reffell, Sam Grahamslaw and Tom Hardwick, who all played in the Premiership ‘A’ League for the club last Saturday, also rolled up their sleeves and got down to some manual labour as the fit-out continues.

Matt says: “Tigers and the players have been really supportive of the project since its beginning and this volunteering is the latest in a long list of support the Foundation has received.”

Foundation ambassador Louis Deacon invited the Tigers teams to get involved and the club’s head of community Scott Clarke said: “When someone like Deacs asks you to do something it is difficult to say no! Especially so where Hambo is involved.

“The GBL Centre is going to be an amazing addition to the work Hambo has already undertaken and provide spectacular environment for individuals and families who need support.”

Members of the Tigers senior squad and the coaching team have already been to see work in progress at the Centre.

Assistant coach Geordan Murphy said: "Matt is so important to us. It’s important that we support him as much as he supports us. He is one of the most inspirational people you’ll ever meet. Every time someone hears Matt speak, they walk away in a different mind space.”
