Gillanders plays his part in England win

Leicester Tigers lock Gregor Gillanders got his first taste of England U-19 representative rugby in an 18-11 victory over Italy at Sunbury on Friday.

Gillanders, who has had an impressive season with the Tigers Academy and Development sides, played the full match as England captain Hugo Ellis (Wasps) scored both of the home side's tries. Replacement fly-half Alex Goode (Saracens) added a conversion and penalty, with Adam Greendale (Leeds Tykes) kicking a penalty.

The opening try came after 17 minutes as No.8 Ellis shrugged off two tackles and raced away to score wide on the right. His second score came as he collected a cross-kick by Goode following good work by Northampton wing David Smith.
