Global Payments Healthy Schools champions

Leicester Tigers welcomed the latest group of Global Payments Healthy Schools champions to Welford Road to watch Tigers in their final home game of the 2018/18 season.

The club and partner Global Payments are getting primary school kids to think about eating healthier and getting fit with the free Healthy Schools programme.

Pupils from Marriot, Mellor, Parks, Granby, St Charles RC Primary, St Mary’s Field, Boothwood, Townlands, Sandfield, Ashby Willesley and Rollaston Primary Schools joined Tigers health education officer Ashleigh Theobald on the pitch for a half-time photo.

Tigers and England centre Manu Tuilagi surprised the kids before joining in the photo alongside Pete Bettles, Global Payments Chief Operating Officer UK & Ireland.

The Global Payments Healthy Schools programme is free for primary schools to sign up to and involves a week-long takeover teaching year three to year six pupils about the importance of eating healthily.

With lessons and outdoors sessions to get kids active, at the end of each week each school crowns their very Healthy Schools champions – one boy and one girl – to enjoy a match at Welford Road.

The programme is supported by club partner Global Payments, who are based in Leicester and provide worldwide payment solutions around the globe.
