Tait admitted he was surprised to win the award after finishing ahead of Tigers teammates Anthony Allen and Tom Youngs in the voting.
“It’s awesome,” he said. “Being up against Tone and Youngsy, who both had great months, I didn’t really expect it. It’s really pleasing and thank you to the people who decided that would be case.
“Having missed so much of the season last year, it’s nice that people think I’ve played well and it means an awful lot.”
The Tigers player of the month award is supported by Goldsmiths, the largest prestige and luxury jewellers in the UK, who are also official East Stand sponsors at Welford Road and official timekeepers.
