Goldsmiths award voting now open

Figure image
The voting is now open for the Goldsmiths Player of the Month with Matt Smith, Adam Thompstone and Tom Youngs on the three-man shortlist.Place your vote now on the Goldsmiths Facebook page by clicking here.   The Leicester Tigers trio will be looking to follow Sam Harrison and Fraser Balmain, the two previous winners of the award so far this season.   Smith has started the campaign with a bang, despite missing the opening game of the season after becoming a new dad. Smith has caught the eye in both attack and in defence with a series of excellent displays on the wing and at inside and outside centre. He played a key role in the bonus-point victory over Stade Francais, scoring the second try which put Tigers ahead for the first time in the game. Thompstone made 97m in the game against Exeter Chiefs and was unlucky not to score at Sandy Park after seeing his effort chalked off by the TMO. It's also in defence that the Tigers wing has proved effective this season, making all five of his tackles against Exeter and contributing another seven tackles and hitting six rucks against Stade Francais. Hooker Youngs has been in all-action form for the Tigers since returning from Rugby World Cup duty with England. Solid in the set-piece and dynamic around the park, Youngs has been his usual effective self. He hit 26 rucks and made nine tackles against Exeter Chiefs and hit another 19 rucks and made 10 tackles against Stade Francais.   The Tigers Player of the Month award is supported by Goldsmiths, the largest prestige and luxury jewellers in the UK, who are also official East Stand sponsors and official timekeepers.
