Vereniki Goneva has been crowned the Computacenter Players' Player of the Year 2014, at the 16th annual RPA Computacenter Players' Awards.

The Leicester Tigers wing's prolific form has not gone unnoticed by his fellow professionals in the Rugby Players Association and his haul of 12 tries in 18 Aviva Premiership matches has seen him take home this prestigious award.

Goneva, already chosen by Tigers players and supporters as their Player of the Season, was also shortlisted for Aviva Premiership Player of the Year.

After picking up his RPA award at the event at Battersea Evolution in London, Goneva said: "This is an extremely proud and happy moment for me.

“There are so many other fantastic players in the Aviva Premiership, so I feel very humbled to be named ahead of them.

“When I first arrived in England, I never would of thought I would win such a big award, so it means an awful lot to me. I would like to thank my family and friends as well as all my Leicester Tigers team-mates and coaches."

Tigers colleague Owen Williams was nominated in the LV= Young Player of the Year category eventually won by George Ford.

Mike Brown was named England Player of the Year in association with Rhead Group, and Rachael Burford was named Sunday Times England Women’s Player of the Year.
