Groups play their part on matchdays

Joining a Leicester Tigers group day is one of the best ways to enjoy a matchday experience up close and personal at Welford Road.

For the opening home game of the season, Tigers welcomed groups from Nene Park Academy as Guard of Honour and Burton Rugby Club as Flag Shakers ahead of kick-off.

Outwood Academy Valley and South Charnwood High School also took part in a Matchday Coaching Clinic with Tigers coaches in the afternoon before joining the crowd to watch the bonus-point win against the Chiefs and also got on to the pitch to have a team photo taken  at half-time.

Stuart Tang, from South Charnwood High, said: “It was a great experience for the kids, it just adds an element of realism when you see a player.

“The chance to ask that player questions at the coaching clinic was really insightful and the team got a lot of enjoyment out of it.

“For me, it was really interesting to watch the coaching staff. I do a bit of coaching myself and it’s good to pick ideas to keep the kids engaged. They’re all big rugby fans and to them it’s a really big deal to be here, it’s a great place to come to watch.”

Two teams of young players and their coaches from Syston RFC also joined in the fun when they took on The Ultimate Big Boot, walking out in front of the Welford Road crowd to take part in the fans’ favourite half-time challenge.

For every home game throughout the season Tigers are joined by group bookings from rugby clubs, schools and colleges, sports clubs, social organisations and work colleagues as well as get-togethers and special occasions, with a package to suit everyone.
