Guy: ‘It’s going to be one hell of a game’

Guy Thompson is raring to go against his former club this weekend and says that Leicester Tigers’ return to Welford Road can’t come soon enough.

The back-rower arrived at Leicester from Midlands rivals Wasps at the start of the season and is keen to play against his previous employers when the two teams meet in Round 15 of the Gallagher Premiership.

“It’s going to be one hell of a game,” he said. “Both teams are not in the places they want to be at the moment, but we’ve got a game-plan in place and we’ve just got to execute it.”

Thompson’s appearance in last week’s match against Worcester Warriors was his first since damaging a hand in the 35-24 win over Harlequins at Welford Road in December, and he is keen to set the side’s run of poor form straight in front of a big home crowd this time out.

He continued: “It was great to be back, but obviously we were really disappointed with the result at Worcester.

“We’re Leicester, at Leicester; they’re going to have to bring their A-game because we want to make sure that we’re dominating at scrum and lineout.”

“When the crowd get behind us it gives us that 16th man on the pitch. With their support we’re going to do everything we can for them and get the win.”

Tigers’ last two league matches at Welford Road have seen important wins over Harlequins and Gloucester, and victory over sixth-placed Wasps this weekend could see the side climb back into the top half of the table.

While the Round 15 clash is heading towards a sell-out, there are a limited number of tickets in seats and terrace still available at the Tigers ticket office.

Tickets are also available for home games against Northampton Saints (Friday, March 22, 7.45pm) and Exeter Chiefs (Saturday, April 6, 4.30pm). Book online, in person or phone 0116 319 8888 (option 2) to secure your place.
