A Leicester Tigers fan who scooped the New Year's Day Mega Draw on the TigersLotto says being at the Matt Hampson Foundation Six Nations Dinner was an experience he will never forget.

Paul Boatman and his friends joined stars of rugby, including Tigers favourites Marcos Ayerza, Telusa Veainu and Manu Tuilagi, at Battersea Evolution in London after winning a table of 10 on the second TigersLotto Mega Draw.

The dinner is now a traditional feature of the Six Nations period and includes a three-course meal with drinks and an after-dinner party.

Paul, of Leicestershire, said: “I was in total shock when I saw my name at the top of the Tigers Lotto Winner email. This was the first time I’d won on the draw – not bad going to scoop the top prize!

“The event was a real eye opener and to see the generosity of some of the groups and companies that had made the journey to Battersea was really moving.

“It was incredible to see the kind of work the Foundation does and it’s thanks to everyone’s passion for rugby that we were able to come together for a great evening of fundraising.

“I took a group of friends along – one of whom is associated with Lutterworth RFC and was very excited to meet some of the rugby greats.

“It was great to see the rugby stars in person and hear some of their stories from the game. While we didn’t get back home until the early hours, it was an experience we won’t forget.”

Meanwhile, Ana Aparicio of Lutterworth will join Tigers players and coaches at the DX End of Year Awards after winning two tickets to the showpiece event on the Weekly Draw on the TigersLotto.

The awards dinner is held on Tuesday, May 2 in the Premiership Suite in the Holland & Barrett Stand, in the company of the Tigers squad and coaches.

Mark Davey of Swadlincote; John Parkin Mason of Abingdon; Martin Burford of Chesterfield and David Wright of Woking have each won £100.
