Hamilton helps Scots get off the mark

James Hamilton's Scotland claimed a 21-9 victory over Wales in their first home game of this season's RBS 6 Nations Championship. Leicester lock Hamilton started in the second row alongside the experienced Scott Murray and the 24-year-old played his part in the loose and in the line-out as respective team captains Chris Paterson and Stephen Jones bagged all of the match points.

Paterson kicked seven penalties from seven attempts - the highest penalty success for a Scot in the Championship - but flanker Simon Taylor took the RBS Man of the Match award on the occasion of his 50th Test cap.

Scotland coach Frank Hadden said: "We were the better side on the day. There's more to come from this side and I'm really proud of the performance. It was a well-balanced side and the win will be good for their confidence."
