Harrison thumbs up for Tigers Rugby Course

Sam Harrison hopes the young supporters he met at the Tigers Rugby Course can follow him all the way to the Leicester team.

Academy graduate Harrison ran the rule over the players who took part in the first course of the year at Oakham RFC during the February half-term.

He was then asked about being a professional rugby player and about his life away from the sport during a question and answer session.

Harrison said: “Being from Leicester, Tigers is the team I always supported and it might be an incentive to them that they can play for their home team.

“Hopefully it can give them the motivation and drive to keep playing, to keep working hard and, who knows, maybe get to the top level.”

The course was led by former Tigers player, captain, coach Ian ‘Dosser’ Smith while and Julian Salvi and Matt Hampson also dropped in for the awards presentation on the final day.

Every player who attends the course will receive a free ticket to an allocated Tigers first-team game at Welford Road. They will also receive a Tigers Rugby Course T-shirt, rugby ball and drinks bottle, free membership to the Junior Tigers Club and the Crusha Cru as well as a hot lunch and drinks each day.

Tigers Rugby Courses return at Easter with a camp at Spalding RFC from April 2-5 and a camp at Market Bosworth RFC from April 10-13. To book a place, or for a list of this year’s rugby courses click here
