Harry focused on Emerging Springboks

Harry Ellis says the British & Irish Lions are determined to bounce back from their first Test defeat when they take on the Emerging Springboks on Tuesday (kick-off 6.10pm).

Leicester Tigers scrum-half Ellis, who was on the bench as the Lions lost 26-21 to South Africa in Durban on Saturday in the opening game of the three-match Test series, says the squad are focused on the remaining fixtures of the tour.

Ellis said: “It’s always difficult after you’ve put so much time and effort and belief into a performance like that first Test but we’ve now got to focus on what’s coming up – the game against the Emerging Boks and the final two Tests.”

Ellis, who has been named in the Lions team to face the Emerging Boks at Newlands in Cape Town, described the experience of touring with the Lions as “great”.

Ellis said: “With Ian McGeechan, everything he says you listen to. He’s got great guys around him who have been there and done that, whether in their playing or coaching careers.

“There are a lot of guys to take experience from and there are a few guys who have been on tours before, so if you need any advice there are plenty of people around you. We are all here to win in a massive sporting country.

“We are all focused on that and there is a great attitude amongst the guys and it’s great to be a part of it.”

The Lions game against the Emerging Springboks, and every match of their tour to South Africa, will be shown live in the ABC Bar at Welford Road.
