Leicester Tigers have launched a competition to name the new club mascot.

Leicester the Tiger, the current mascot, is going into semi-retirement and a new mascot will take his place for the coming season.

The new mascot will be unveiled at Tigers in the Park, the community fun day being organised by Tigers for the first game of the season against Exeter Chiefs at Welford Road on Saturday, September 3.

The mascot will become a familiar face at Welford Road matchdays, at the Junior Tigers Club and at events with the Tigers roadshow team and The Maul.

Now Tigers are looking for fans to name the mascot. Email your suggestions to [email protected] before Wednesday, August 17th and we will pick the best three names which will be put forward for a supporters vote to be drawn on August 24th.

The winner will have their photograph taken with the new mascot at the grand unveiling at Tigers in the Park. If more than one supporter suggests the same name then the winner will be drawn at random.

Tigers in the Park takes place on Nelson Mandela Park and the plaza in front of the Caterpillar Stand at Welford Road on Saturday, September 3. It starts at 11am until kick-off against Exeter Chiefs at 3pm and entry is free.

Attractions include a rodeo rugby ball, bouncy castle and an inflatable run, the army will be bringing a mini tank and their climbing wall and there will also be stalls, food and a bar.

The Tigers Roadshow Vehicle, known as The Maul, will be running the Speed Pass challenge, Spot the Ball and our interactive Tigers quiz, while the Tigers community team will be holding tag rugby sessions.

Tickets to the Exeter Chiefs game at Welford Road on Saturday, September 3 (3pm kick-off) are on sale now from the Welford Road ticket office, on 0844 856 1880 or online by clicking here
