Hipkiss gives plaudits to forwards

Dan Hipkiss scored the decisive try to set up Tigers' victory over NEC Harlequins on Saturday - and gave most of the credit to the forwards.

With Tigers just one point ahead of Quins, centre Hipkiss got on the end of Alesana Tuilagi's forceful break to touch down in the right-hand corner after 50 minutes. Andy Goode added the conversion with an assured kick to put the hosts more than a score ahead and on the way to victory.

After grabbing his fourth Guinness Premiership try of the season, Hipkiss said: "It was more of a forwards' try really because they kept the move going and thanks to that we were able to get forward, which you can do from quick ball."

The win banished memories of the narrow home defeat by neighbours Northampton Saints seven days earlier and boosted Tigers' confidence ahead of the trip to Gloucester next Sunday.

"After two poor performances in the last couple of weeks, you can get low in confidence going into the next game and you have to grind out a win," said Hipkiss. "They were the form side in the Premiership going into the game and we were probably coming up against them at the wrong time for us. But we have come away with four points from a win and we have to be happy with that and go on from there. Now we have to take confidence from it going into a tough game at Gloucester next week."
