Dan Hipkiss said it was great to share Tigers' 22-15 Guinness Premiership win over Saracens with the Leicester supporters who made the trip to Vicarage Road.

Hundreds of fans cheered Tigers to their first victory of 2010 and the players made a point of applauding their efforts after the final whistle.

“It was amazing the fans made the effort to make the trip over the new year period,” said Tigers and England centre Hipkiss. “The noise that they made was brilliant and it is nice to share good victories with so many fans.”

Hipkiss scored the only try of the game as he finished off from close range after good work by Ben Youngs and the Tigers pack.

Toby Flood added 17 points with the boot as Tigers inflicted a first defeat of the season at Vicarage Road on league leaders Saracens.

Hipkiss said: “We are happy with the result. They have been pretty solid at home over the first few months of the season so it was a good result for us.

“It is a good start to the year for us and hopefully we can kick on from here, because it is a tough place to come.”

Tigers return to action this weekend when London Wasps are the visitors to Welford Road in the Guinness Premiership.

Hipkiss said: “We are really looking forward to that one. There is a lot of history between the two sides and we will be up for it.”

More than 20,000 tickets have been sold for the Wasps game and you can secure your seat by contacting the Tigers ticket office on 0844 856 1880 or by clicking here.
