Dan Hipkiss has been voted Leicester Tigers Players' Player of the Season.

The 24-year-old centre has established himself in Pat Howard's team this season and has attracted the attention of the national media as a potential England international.

His Leicester colleagues have also valued his efforts as he topped the poll to follow Shane Jennings, winner of the players' player award in 2005/06.

Hipkiss was presented with his award at a sponsors' evening at Welford Road on Tuesday and said: "It is a huge honour to receive this recognition because it is voted for by the guys who you are trying to impress most - the guys who see you working in training every day and who play alongside you in a match.

"The whole squad has been working hard and I have picked up a lot of tips from working and playing alongside Daryl Gibson, as well as from the coaches. It has been a good season so far for the squad, but we still have targets to aim for and it is not over yet."

Jordan Crane was voted Players' Young Player of the Year. The England Saxons No.8 arrived last summer from Leeds Tykes and the 20-year-old has made 15 starts for the club in his first season at Welford Road.
