Holders Gloucester among LV= Cup rivals

Leicester Tigers have been drawn to face last season's LV= Cup winners Gloucester Rugby in the pool stages of this season's competition.

Tigers, winners of the Anglo-Welsh cup competition in 2007, also face group games against Scarlets, Harlequins and Newcastle Falcons, last season’s runners-up.

The Anglo-Welsh competition features all 12 Aviva Premiership clubs and the four Welsh regions. Each pool features three English sides and a Welsh representative.

Tigers kick off with a trip to Scarlets in round one on Saturday, October 15 (6pm), a game which is scheduled to be shown live on Sky Sports, before a home fixture against last season’s LV= Cup winners Gloucester in round two the following weekend.

Round three on the weekend of January 28/29 features a trip to the Twickenham Stoop to face Harlequins before Newcastle visit Welford Road on the weekend of February 4/5.

Rob Andrew, RFU rugby operations director, said: “The tournament is a unique cross-border competition and with a place in Europe for an English winner, the LV= Cup is fast becoming a fixture calendar highlight for both clubs and supporters alike.”

David Smith, LV= HR and communications director, said: “The last two seasons have produced some fantastic rugby and the tournament is fast establishing itself as a hotbed for young talent. We’re very much looking forward to the forthcoming season and would like to wish all teams the best of luck.”

Home pool games in the LV= Cup are included in a Leicester Tigers season ticket. Secure your seats now by calling the ticket office on 0844 856 1880 or by clicking here
