Leicester Tigers supporters have shown their enthusiasm for the club's new look with record orders at the shop.

The new online shop opened on Monday, taking pre-orders on home and change kit as well as the training range. 

Chris Rose, Tigers head of brand, said: “The support we’ve received has been tremendous and we can’t thank everyone enough. We exceeded even our own ambitious expectations on day one by a factor of four or five, and in the current climate this is a real lifeline.”

Fans made Monday the club’s biggest-ever pre-order day with home kit, the bold change kit and the colourful training wear all selling well.

Shop manager Sara Watson said the designs had clearly caught the imagination.

“We’ve seen as many sales of the change shirt as we have the home shirt,” she said. “And the training wear wasn’t far behind which was a real boost particularly as supporters had only seen it for the first time that morning.”

The new online store coped well with the huge demand as the launch of the new kits came on its first day of trading since the club took the retail business back in-house.

There were a few hiccups and, after encouraging feedback from supporters, Tigers have acknowledged comments on the women’s range being less well stocked at this stage.

Chris Rose said: “The range is not yet complete but in current trading conditions the club simply cannot sit on £100,000s-worth of stock. We’ve already increased the amount of ladies-fit available in the training range, but we know it’s not enough and it’s our job to make sure we introduce more choice.

“We can only ask that the supporters are patient with us in the knowledge that there is a commitment to improve in this area.”
