Humphreys off to a flying start

Figure image
New boy Ian Humphreys scored a 65-metre interception try in the last second to seal a 35-20 win and a bonus point for Leeds against Sedgley Park in stoppage time at Headingley Carnegie. The Tigers outside half began his loan spell in fine form to guide the Tykes their fifth win from six games.

The five point win puts the Tykes in joint third place with Plymouth Albion as they travel to second placed Bedford next Saturday.

The young Irishman could well face Tigers colleagues Ollie Dodge, Tom Varndell, Tom Youngs, Ben Pienaar, Chris Whitehead and Dan Cole, as well as former fly half rival Ross Broadfoot at Goldington Road.

Humphreys appeared as a second half substitute for the Tykes, just a few days after completing a short-term loan move from Tigers. He quickly became the toast of his new club as his last-minute score prevented the home side from ruing a number of missed opportunities.
