Ian to get game time at Leeds

Tigers fly-half Ian Humphreys is to gain more game-time over the next few weeks with a short loan spell at Leeds Tykes. The National One side already have centre Anitelea Tuilagi on a season-long agreement from Welford Road, but Tigers head coach Pat Howard said Humphreys would go to Headingley for just four weeks.

"There is not another A League game for a few weeks but we still want players to get competitive game-time," said Howard.

Humphreys, who is the Guinness A League's top scorer so far this season, said: "Pat has explained the reasons why I will not be involved in the next couple of weeks and I would obviously rather be playing than sitting out completely.

"Over the next few weeks I want to get some game-time and at Leicester you have to accept that it is worth battling for a place. There are other players available to play at 10 and it is a competitive position. Every position at a big club like this has two or three players competing for the shirt."

Tykes hope to welcome Humphreys to his first training session with his new colleagues ahead of their match with Sedgley Park on Sunday.
