Leicester Tigers Women's outside-back Lucrezia Iavarone has been called up to take part in a training camp hosted by the Italian Women’s national team.

The camp will take place at the Cittadella del Rugby in Parma from Sunday, December 18 to Wednesday, December 21.

“In agreement with senior members of the team, we have decided to use the last camp of this year to give opportunities to a younger group of players” said Italian Head Coach Giovanni Raineri.

“A number of girls in this group have taken part in training camps before, while for some this will the first experience in the national programme”.

“Our aim is to broaden the horizons of our selection in order to monitor players not only on Italian territory but also competing in leagues abroad."

Speaking about Iavarone, Leicester Tigers Women's Head of Rugby Vicky Macqueen said: "Lucrezia has worked incredibly hard on her game since joining us this season and her selection in this training camp is just reward for those efforts."

"We are all so proud of her for getting this recognition and I am as equally proud that a Leicester Tigers player is being recognised. It is a great reflection of all the girls efforts, they have all contributed to one another's success."

Iavarone will link up with the Italian women's programme following this weekend's Women's Champions North 1 fixture.
