Johne disappointed with Welford Rd defeat

Tigers star Johne Murphy may have been bitterly disappointed to have experienced international defeat at Welford Road on Friday night, but the young wing cum full back is determined to learn from the experience.

The 23-year-old has been one of the club's most consistent performers this season, but he was powerless to prevent Ireland A from falling to a 31-13 defeat at the hands of England Saxons.

"It was very disappointing to lose the game," said Murphy, who has six tries in 18 Tigers appearances so far in 2007/08. "Losing any match is always hard to take but to lose on your home ground makes it even more frustrating. I felt that I didn't do myself justice as a player and that made the evening doubly disappointing for me.

"I did enjoy the experience as a whole, though, and it's definitely something I want more of. Representing your country is always special and to do that at Welford Road was something I was pretty excited about. I'm disappointed with the way I played but I've got to keep trying to get in the Tigers squad and, hopefully, I'll get a chance to put things right with Ireland A."
