Two 1,000-tonne cranes were brought on to site to lift the 100-metre long, 250-tonne King Truss, which acts as the support structure for the roof in the new stand.
“It is a very exciting moment for us all and it was fantastic to see so many supporters here to share the occasion,” said Leicester Tigers chairman Peter Tom CBE.
“We have had great support from Leicester City Council and it was great to see so many members of the Council here today too.
“The stand is now taking shape and I think it has really caught the imagination of the supporters.
“The King Truss is a very impressive structure and we look forward to its continued development in time to open at the start of next season.”
