Kitchener called up into England squad

Figure image
Graham Kitchener has been called into the England squad ahead of the QBE Internationals following injury to second-row Joe Launchbury.

Kitchener made his 50th starting appearance for Tigers in the European Rugby Champions Cup win over Ulster a fortnight ago, in which he scored his first try of the season.

Launchbury has been ruled of the autumn series by a neck injury which requires six to eight weeks of rest and rehabilitation.
Uncapped Tigers lock Kitchener, who captained an England VX against the Barbarians last June, has been added to squad to prepare for Saturday’s opening QBE International against New Zealand at Twickenham Stadium.
He joins club colleague Ben Youngs in the England squad.
London Irish hooker David Paice will also join the squad, joining Dylan Hartley and Rob Webber.
Northampton Saints pair Stephen Myler – who is suffering from a mild hamstring strain – and Luther Burrell (hand) will remain at Franklin’s Gardens for assessment and treatment.
Lancaster remains optimistic that centre Burrell will play some part in the autumn fixtures, which continue against South Africa, Samoa and Australia on successive Saturdays.
