Leicester Tigers kitman Clive Galloway will take on a 100 mile cycling challenge to raise money for the Hope Against Cancer charity.Clive and his partner Shelley Heffernan are cycling from Nevill Holt near Market Harborough to Brancaster Staithe in north Norfolk as part of the Century Cycle Challenge on Saturday, May 2.
The couple are taking on the challenge in memory of Clive’s mum Jean and to raise money for Hope Against Cancer, which is one of the charities supported by Marcos Ayerza during his testimonial year.
The Century Cycle Challenge also supports the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust, a Tigers club charity this season that aims to increase awareness of and research into Sudden Arrhythmic Death Syndrome (SADS).
Clive, a distinctive figure in the tunnel area and on the Tigers touchline on matchdays, said: “The training is going really well but as it gets closer there is a bit of panic setting in. I know we can do it but it’s a case of actually doing it with the buzz of the day.
“One hundred miles is a long way to drive let alone to ride a bike! There is a group of around 12 of us doing the ride so we should be able to pull everyone through.”
