Ahead of the clash with Cardiff to open the 2018/19 pre-season fixtures schedule, on Saturday (August 11) at Cardiff Arms Park, LTTV takes a look back at the last time Tigers faced off with the Blues.

It was what would later be confirmed as the final Anglo-Welsh Cup fixture for both teams, with the competition scrapped from the calendar at the conclusion of last season, and Leicester who came away victorious with a 24-12 win over their Welsh counterparts on a damp day at Welford Road.

Tigers three tries to two saw, and sharp-shooting from Joe Ford, were enough to record the 12-point win and it was young-guns Will Evans and Jordan Olowofela who crossed in the opening half before a late try from Welsh-born, Scottish international Luke Hamilton which sealed the deal for the home side.

While Evans (knee) and Hamilton (Edinburgh) won't take part in the pre-season fixture this weekend for Tigers, England U20s international Olowofela will be out to continue his rise through the Leicester ranks after a breakthrough 2018 following his stand-out, man of the match appearance in the last meeting which has included a Premiership debut, starring role in England's Junior World Championship campaign and nomination for Player of the Tournament in France.

The outside-back has been named at fullback in a side mixed with both youth and experience, including several new faces to the East Midlands this season in the form of Sam Aspland-Robinson and Campese Ma'afu who join Olowofela in the starting side.
