Former Leicester Tigers favourites Tim Stimpson, Leon Lloyd and Ollie Smith were among the players running out at the inaugural Legion Legends Rugby Festival.

The players had to contend with temperatures above 30C at Wimbledon RFC on Saturday, July 13 as they helped raise money for Restart, the official charity of The Rugby Players Association.

The Tigers team was joined by sides from Harlequins, Gloucester and London Irish as well as Bristol, Saracens and Worcester.

The tournament was won by Saracens, who beat London Irish 35-8 in the final. CLIC Sergeant Godfathers beat Olorun Godfathers in the amateur veterans’ final and Wooden Spoon beat Wasps Ladies in the women’s final.

Stimpson said: “Great weather, great day, great rugby – what more could you want?”
