Toby Flood and Aaron Mauger scored a try each to give Leicester Tigers a 20-13 half-time lead against Perpignan in the Heineken Cup at Welford Road tonight.
Flood sidestepped his way to the line to finish off a series of drives by the forwards which, when he kicked the conversion, added to his two earlier penalties to give Tigers a 13-0 lead with 19 minutes gone.
Perpignan struck back through Maxime Mermoz’s breakaway try, and a conversion and two penalties from fly-half David Mele levelled the score at 13-13 with half-time approaching.
But Mauger put Tigers back in front with the last move of the half, finishing off a brilliant break by Dan Hipkiss to score his second try of the season. Flood completed the seven-point score to put Tigers 20-13 ahead at the break.
