Leon Lloyd will play against his former Leicester Tigers teammates after being named in the Gloucester Rugby side for Saturday?s top-of-the-table Guinness Premiership match at Welford Road (kick-off 6pm).

The former England international joined Gloucester in the summer after 10 years at Leicester and has been selected on the wing for this weekend.

James Simpson-Daniel and Iain Balshaw are ruled out by injury, but Mike Tindall is named at centre and England full-back Olly Morgan continues at full-back. Willie Walker will make his first Guinness Premiership start of the season at fly-half, with Ryan Lamb among the replacements.

“Ryan has been in excellent form and was named as the Guinness Premiership’s player of the month but I have made it clear that the value in a nine-month season is the strength of the squad,” said head coach Dean Ryan.

Scrum-half Gareth Cooper is included in the squad for the first time following his World Cup commitments with Wales and there is also a place for lock Will James on the bench.

Ryan has rotated his front-row options by including Patrice Collazo at loose-head in place of Nick Wood, while Olivier Azam will make his 100th Premiership appearance.

“We have made a very encouraging start and so have Leicester so it has got all the makings of a very attractive game,” Ryan said. “Welford Road is a great place to play rugby, both teams are playing well and it should be a great occasion.”

Tickets remain on sale, contact the Tigers ticket office on 08701 28 34 30.
