Let's raise the roof - Murphy

Geordan Murphy aims to give ASM Clermont Auvergne a Welford Road welcome when Tigers host the French side for the return Heineken Cup clash on Saturday.

Tigers were given a hostile reception by a partisan 18,000-crowd at Clermont’s Stade Marcel Michelin on Sunday.

The fans created an electric atmosphere which helped Clermont to a 30-12 victory and extended their winning run at home to 35 games.

Tigers welcome Clermont and their star-studded squad to Leicester this Saturday in the second of back-to-back fixtures.

And Murphy says a bouncing Welford Road will help the Tigers quest for vital points in Pool 4.

“I would love to give them a real Welford Road welcome,” says Tigers captain Murphy. “They had a very partisan crowd and I would love for them to be on the receiving end of something like that at Welford Road.

“Welford Road is a place where we love to play. We will hopefully get a full house there to give them a vociferous Leicester welcome.”

Tickets to the crunch Heineken Cup clash are available now online by clicking here, on the hotline 0844 856 1880, from the Welford Road ticket office and from the Club Store in Market Street, Leicester.
