Leicester Tigers welcomed long-time rivals Gloucester Rugby, who sat atop the Premiership table, to Welford Road in Round 3 of the 2019/20 Gallagher Premiership for a double-feature matchday as England took on South Africa in the 2019 Rugby World Cup Final in Japan.
More than 2,000 supporters arrived at Welford Road ahead of the early morning kick-off to cheer on the five Leicester lads and England squad in their bid to claim a second William Webb Ellis trophy in Tokyo.
After the screening of the Cup Final, supporters were treated to live music and the brand-new food and beverage offerings available at Welford Road thanks to the club's new catering partner Levy UK.
Only hours after full-time in Tokyo, a young Tigers side faced a star-studded Gloucester outfit in their second home game of the new Premiership campaign and turned the frowns of the Leicestershire-based English fans upside down with a brave, hard-fought performance to record their first victory of the new season in front of the 17,500 strong crowd.
During the match, fans were also treated to a Zorb Race at half-time with two members of the crowd facing off in a bid to win their height in Stowford Press Cider.
