Kerr looks forward to 'massive' home clash

It took less than 18 months from Jake Kerr to make the step up from part-time rugby player to an international, but you wouldn't know it if you sat across the table from the modest Tigers hooker.

It's not a question of his size or ability on the pitch either, they both speak for themselves.

Quite simply, he's just the same fresh-faced Scot that arrived at Oval Park on a trial at the beginning of the 2017/18 season after impressing the Tigers coaching staff in A-League outings for the club.

"It's a massive game for both teams with the way the League is at the moment ... we're looking forward to it."

The best example of his unwavering modest is Kerr's three-word response to whether or not he feels any different returning to Tigers after making his first appearance for Scotland on the opening weekend of this season's Six Nations.

"Not really, no," he says, before laughing and providing very little more to a question about what's changed since becoming an international.

What about the match and experience of being in camp with Scotland then?

"It was massive ... something you dream about growing up, it was more of an event and I was able to really enjoy it," says Kerr.

Now one of three Tigers hookers to have played international rugby, there's only one thing on Kerr's mind - more of it.

"I've had a taster of what is possible and want to work hard to achieve more," says the 22 year old.

Kerr re-joined his team mate's a fortnight ago after making his international debut, at a time when the Leicester squad have been struggling to string together consistent performances and record a win.

However the former Loughborough University student, who is in line for just his 20th appearance for the club on Saturday afternoon, insists the mood is positive and improvement still taking place ahead of a game the squad is looking forward to at Welford Road against long-time rivals Wasps.

"We are trying to focus on the positives and we are improving in certain areas," Kerr says.

"It's a massive game for both teams with the way the League is at the moment ... we're looking forward to it."
