Leicester Tigers backrower Matt Rogerson spoke to Tigers Media after the club’s 35-22 win at a sold out Mattioli Woods Welford Road.
Rogerson, wearing the six jersey this week, put in a typically hard-working display and was rewarded with his first Gallagher Premiership try for the club.
“They’re few and far between nowadays,” Rogerson laughed.
“So quite pleased to get over and open the scoring for us.
“We said all week it’d be an important game for us, playing at home on New Year’s Eve, massive crowd, sell-out crowd but important for us in terms of the table as well so really pleased with the result and how we played, as you say, in that first half in particular.”
Speaking about the sell-out crowd at Mattioli Woods Welford Road, the back row was elated.
"It was awesome. We could hear the fans loud and proud every time we were on the ball, every time we were defending and every time we got over the line the place just erupted.
"We were really pleased everyone decided to come out, spend their New Year’s with us and we wish everyone the best for 2024."
