Greg Bateman has been announced as the Lumbers Player of the Month award winner for February.

The result of the supporter vote was revealed during half-time in Saturday’s match against Wasps in front of a sell-out Leicester Tigers crowd at Welford Road.

Loosehead prop Bateman topped the vote from a shortlist which also featured Brendon O’Connor and Matt Toomua.

Bateman was in eye-catching form during the month, gaining votes for his work in the loose and at the set-piece including the win at Saracens when he was also nominated for Premiership Rugby’s Citizen Try of the Week award.

He joins Harry Wells (twice), Valentino Mapapalangi, Jonny May, Dan Cole and Telusa Veainu as a winner of the Lumbers monthly award this season.

Supported by High Street jewellers Lumbers and voted for by Tigers supporters, the Player of the Month award recognises the contribution of individual players to the team cause throughout the campaign.

Established in 1881, Lumbers jewellers have been at the heart of Leicester for more than 135 years – just like the Tigers – and are the sponsors of the club’s monthly player of the month award.

The Lumbers team offers unparalleled service and knowledge for clients at their new premises in High Street, Leicester, with an extensive range of services including jewellery and watch repairs, valuations and engraving.

Look out for the list of nominations for the March award and how you can place your vote soon.
