LV= Cup: All to play for

The LV= Cup qualifing rounds come to a conclusion this weekend with top spot in each of the four pools still open.

Leicester Tigers are second in Pool 2, one point behind Sale Sharks, going into Round 4.

Sale go to London Wasps on Saturday looking to become the first visiting side to win there this season, while Tigers go to Llanelli to face the Scarlets.

The only defeat Tigers experienced in the competition last season was in Round 1 at the Parc y Scarlets, losing 31-3 back in November 2011.

Worcester Warriors and Cardiff Blues each have a matchematical chance of qualifying from Pool 2 if both Sale and Tigers lose this weekend. Blues host London Irish, while Warriors are at home to Saracens.

Harlequins are in pole position on Pool 1, four points clear of Exeter Chiefs.

London Irish and Saracens are battling for the top spot in Pool 3, while Northampton Saints have a one-point lead over Bath in Pool 4 going into the last weekend of the pool stages.

Competition format
The teams competing for the LV= Cup are split into four pools of four clubs, with three English clubs and one Welsh region in each pool.
Teams in Pool 1 play teams in Pool 4, and teams in Pool 2 play teams in Pool 3.
Each team plays four pool matches - two home and two away - with the top team from each pool qualifying for the semi-finals.

Pool winners
The pool winners will be decided by the following criteria:
a) match points
b) number of matches won, then tries scored, then points difference, then number of red cards, then by the toss a coin.

Each of the four qualifying clubs shall be ranked as above for the knockout stages and play each other as follows:
Semi-final 1: 1st ranked club v 4th ranked club
Semi-final 2: 2nd ranked club v 3rd ranked club
The order of the semi finals will be determined after consultation with the host broadcaster.
