Campese Ma'afu says he's excited for the challenge of taking one tier one nations this Autumn after the Leicester Tigers front-rower was named in Fiji's squad for their November Test matches.

"It's very exciting," Ma'afu said.

"I'm always up for new challenges and it will be one up against tier one nations this Autumn, individually and as a squad in the build-up to the World Cup next year."

While Fiji's name is more synonymous with the wide-running, exciting style of the game in rugby circles, Ma'afu is confident the forwards will be "up to the challenge" before the backs show their ability with ball in hand.

"We're always up for the physical battle and will be looking to have a big impact up front," he said.

"The flair is what we do best and if we can get that right in the pack, allowing the backs to attack in the way we enjoy doing it we will be in a good place."

A veteran of more than 50 Tests, Ma'afu is also relishing the role of being a senior squad member and confident that if the group can gel consistency will follow.

"Coming together, the main thing for us is gelling together and put our best foot forward to win games," he said.

"I am a senior player now and need to lead from the front, doing my best to help the squad be consistent."

The prop has spent the majority of his professional career in European rugby and hopeful his experience in the northern hemisphere, as well as other members of the Fiji squad named today, will help play a part in preparing for the opening game against Scotland.

"The first test up against Scotland will be a big challenge," said Ma'afu.

"Looking at the squad, we have boys picked locally and it's up to us to pass on our expertise from over this side of the world."
