Manu makes his return to Tigers action

The sight of Manu Tuilagi back on the field brought an added positive to victory for Leicester Tigers at Bristol on Friday.

Ruled out by a groin injury since his try-scoring appearance in the opening game of the season at Gloucester in September, Tuilagi returned with 20 minutes off the bench in the win at Ashton Gate on Friday.

Tigers director of rugby Richard Cockerill said: “It’s great to see Manu back on the pitch. He has been training hard, he looks lean and in good shape.

“We got 20 minutes out of him, we have just got to keep getting him on the field and getting time. He will be very important to us. He will get his form back and hopefully we will have the Manu Tuilagi we all know and love back on the field.”

Tigers made it four consecutive wins in all competitions with a 21-16 triumph at Bristol, and Cockerill was also happy with the form and commitment shown in defence.

“We’ve conceded one try in two games,” he said. “I thought that was good tonight. The boys have worked hard, their resilience is good and momentum is really important.

“Now we get ourselves freshened up and we come back in on Monday to prepare for the derby with Saints.”
