Martin in line for England Under-18s debut

Second-rower George Martin will make his first appearance for England Under-18s on Sunday, just a week after becoming a national champion with Leicester Tigers.

Martin was among the Tigers tryscorers in the Under-18 Academy League Finals Day win over Gloucester last Sunday before joining colleague Cameron Jordan in the England squad.

Second-rower Jordan played in England’s opening fixture against France earlier this month, while Martin earns a call-up for Sunday’s match at Stirling Country RFC against Scotland – who include club colleague Alex Maxwell in their squad – in Stirling in a final warm-up before the Six Nations Festival.

England head coach John Fletcher said: “This is the majority of the group that will go to the Six Nations Festival in Wales later this month. We meet on Friday and play on Sunday so that is a good experience for the players in terms of trying to build connections in relatively short periods of time.

“For some of the players this will be their first experience of playing for England so they should be super excited about that. This is what they’ve worked towards, they are all in good form, that is why they are in the squad.”
