Mascots lead out team for Euro win

Two young Leicester Tigers fans won the chance to lead out the players on to the famous Welford Road pitch for the European Challenge Cup opener against Pau.

Gian Sidhu and Evie White, who are both members of the Junior Tigers Club, soaked up the pre-match atmosphere pitchside before joining captain Tom Youngs to lead out the team.

Both fans also received a full Tigers kit as well as a signed photo on the pitch with Youngs and club mascot Welford.

Just before kick-off, Gian said: “Mummy and daddy told me last week and I’m really excited. I didn’t get to tell my friends but I will in my show and tell!”

Evie’s grandfather Keith accompanied her to pitchside and said: “It means an awful lot to her, she loves coming to the Tigers as it’s usually a family affair but dad is not here today so she’s with us.”

The young fan in your family could become a matchday mascot by joining the Junior Tigers Club, which includes pre-match activities at every home game. Our free matchday mascot package includes:

  • Leicester Tigers mascot home shirt, shorts and socks
  • Running out with the players in front of the Welford Road crowd
  • Print of your official photograph taken on the pitch with the captain and Welford, signed by the captain
  • Photo in the next matchday programme
